Since I'm up late again, I might as well get these pics of Thanksgiving posted...and before it becomes February and then it's just silly to post T-Day pics (which is how it seems like time and my blogging schedule is going these days).
This is in case you've ever wondered what it would be like to attend the big Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in person, here's what you're missing. (Spoiler alert: it's not at all like Matt Lauer or Al Roker make it out to be....I didn't even see one Broadway show dance number!)
First, you try and get there early, although not early enough by your husband's estimation (and by-the-by, nor can the NYC of today ever meet his unfailing and very high standards of childhood nostalgia) and then wedge your way in behind 3000 of your closest friends.
And, thus, the view from the cheap seats:
So we find some kid hogging a whole window ledge to himself and then shamelessly invite our two bigger kids to share it with him (only so that we...I mean me....don't have to hold them up ourselves for the entire parade).
And since Auntie K has offered to take Isabel, leaving me free (and our friend Laura M., who met up with us) to be jossled and elbowed by our fellow parade goers for the next 90 minutes in peace.
And the awards for the most popular floats (in our family, at least): And the award for the most bizarre (because anything with Japanese pop cuture always gets a good laugh around our house):
And finally, Santa! And then we went home and watched Miracle on 34th Street. Really.
ps. All in all, it was still much more fun to see it live rather than watching it on tv.

I love the view from the cheap seats. I guess it's good that part of the parade floats in the sky or else nearly everyone would only get a lovely view of the back of many heads.
Oh what fun. Even the crowd seems festive.
I have always thought it would be fun to go. But maybe not. Glad you made the most of it!
