Let the Holidays Begin

Adam informs me that the Christmas season is never officially underway until we have egg nog in the house. So I got him a good gallon's worth before we even put up a tree.

As for me, the holiday season officially started today because I always look forward to getting my fill of these little puppies. I think that I easily ate 10 in the car on the way home from the store (and all the time hiding them from my girls sitting in the back). Merry Christmas to me.

p.s. Thanks Kaerlig for sharing your must-have holiday items.

I've heard of those JOe Joes but never actually sampled them. Perhaps it is best, since I have little self control.

I have never heard of Joe Joes. I'm curious now.

I'm going grocery shopping today and will scout them out.

Did you see the Dark Chocolate covered peppermint Joe Joes? They are so good. I ate the whole box by myself! Mmmmm!

Linda...you're killing me! How did I miss those. Although maybe it's a good thing because I can see myself eating the whole box too.

And Kaerlig, unfortunately for you, the Joe Joe's are sold only at Trader Joes, a kind of specialty grocery store that isn't in Utah...a problem that will hopefully be remedied someday. But when it comes, I know you will love it (and every flavor of Joe Joe's too).

I look forward to pistachios and citrus at Christmas time. Good luck getting ready for Christmas.

Ooooh, Merry Christmas! I'm going to have to look for the Oreo version, because we're sadly lacking in Trader Joe's 'round these parts.

We make some yummy cinnamon-candy-coated walnuts at Christmas, but we haven't for a couple of years. OH, and also Mexican bunuelos (fried cookies) which I haven't made for probably more than a couple of years because I hate making my whole house smell like cooking oil. I need to hire someone to cook some for me at *their* house.

Okay I just did an image search for "bunuelos" and it brought up pictures of donuts and donut holes. So I tried "swedish rosettes" and found what I was looking for. I know the Mexican family I spent Christmas with when I was fifteen made rosettes and called them bunuelos, but I don't know if other families made them, too. Oh, well. No matter what you call them, they are delicious. (Oh, and my Mexican hosts put cinnamon sugar on theirs, not powedered sugar.)

Whatever they are, they sound delish!

And....I suggest that you Utahans start a campaign to bring a Trader Joes to your area STAT.

And....can you tell that I'm supposed to be preparing a sacrament meeting talk today and am avidly avoiding it?

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the candy cane Joe Joes, but we usually go for the lower fat chocolate covered ones :)

I really want to try Joe Joes. It isn't fair.
