Max's triathalon

Even though I started this post on the actual day it happened, it's taken me this long to finish getting everything uploaded. Hey, things have been busy!

Anyway, here are the pics from the first little youth triathalon that Max was in this month.

It took place at Lums Pond, a nearby state park. He had to swim 100 yds in the pond, bike for 2.5 miles, and the run .4 miles. Adam's mom came down to our house for the weekend to see it with us (and to give us a night off for our anniversary too--thanks!). The whole thing was pretty great.

And they're off!

Next is the transition area to get on the bike. Here's the point where Adam assessed that Max must have inherited my competitive drive.

First, find the bike.

Next, make sure you take time to adequately dry off.
Then, find shoes and shirt.

Then have a seat to put on shoes. Shirt and helmet...check. Oh, are all the other kids cleared out of the transition area by now? What's their hurry? Ok, on the bike.
Coming in from the bike ride.
Starting the run. Almost to the finish line, and still with a smile.
He made it!!
He did so great and had a lot of fun. Immediately following the race was a fun-run on the .4 mile course. Olivia decided that she'd like to do it, so Adam ran with her (and Max ran it again).Great job to both!

How cute (and how fun!) I love the "transition" pictures. Isaac and Mabel both opted to do recreational soccer this year -- first time for both of them -- and I am feeling for them with their total lack of athletic heritage. I hope they have a good time -- and I hope I survive this month, since we will have 6 games or practices on 5 days/week (and getting them there is purely a labor of love for me -- otherwise I'd rather be home sewing!)

How fun! What a tough kid Max is to do all that!! I'm seriously impressed. My kids don't know what a triathalon is, and probably never will.

I am glad he inherited your competitive gene (that from one un-competitive girl to another). It's funnest that way and it looks like it was a lot of fun.

He is so cute! I'm very impressed too. I haven't even attempted a triathlon. I love the transition pictures. Did you have to restrain yourself (or did Adam) from rushing him onto his bike? Congratulations Max and Olivia!

Impressive! He looked like such a stud in his swim goggles and cap. He probably did it in a faster time that I could :-)

Okay, that is the cutest thing ever! My girls are looking over my shoulder and saying they want to do a triathlon too. Thanks for the inspiration, Max! I am competing in my first tri later this month, so any advice would be GREATLY appreciated :)
