List

My to-do list for this week must be about 150 items long.

We're leaving for a weekend camping trip on Saturday, so there's food and gear to pack, seedlings for the garden that are still in their containers waiting to be transplanted, laundry that is unfolded, pants for Adam that need to be hemmed, about 7 thank-you cards I haven't yet written, teacher gifts to wrap, paint on the windows I need to scrape off, weeds that are out in force, blog posts that I keep wanting to catch up on, etc., etc., etc...

When I got home from dropping off Olivia at her preschool class I had every intention of tackling the ever-growing list. Before I went inside, Isabel walked with me down to the mailbox and then said, in her sweet, little, chirpy, cartoon-y, downright adorable 2yr old voice,
"You go on walk with me, Mama?"

Yes.

Actually, I think that it's a much better use of my time.

That is so sweet. I need to do more of that kind of thing. The most important of all :-)

Awww. You won't remember the rest that went undone (probably,) but you'll remember this.

Oh dear, I didn't want reminding of my unwritten thank-you cards -- more than 7 -- in fact I think I need to break them into groups of 7 to get them done.

I love that "tiny baby" girl! Can't wait to see you all! P.S. Thanks for the recipes I did the taco soup and it was a hit!

"So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep."
Was pretty much my mantra for years. Thank goodness there was a poet out there to validate not only my love for my kids, but my lazy housekeeping abilities as well.

Andy called me today as he was driving through Delaware. He was sad that he was in such a hurry and didn't have time to stop and see you guys, but it may have been for the best given your 150-item to do list ;) Have a great summer!

I totally understand... except for me it's a roommate who asks in his most convincing 'you'll be a loser if you don't do what I ask' voice, "will you play HALO with me?"

Jen, the name of that poem is "Song for a fifth child," and it's been much on my mind lately -- but, while I've mastered not worrying a bit about cobwebs and dust, what does a mother of five do about older kids needing rides to soccer practice, etc? Sometimes I feel like I'm getting enough time to enjoy this baby, other times I feel like her babyhood is whizzing past. (Next week she'll be 3 months! A quarter of a year! Aaaaugh!)

Life is too much about have to do this and have to do that. It's nice to go for a walk instead.
