Somehow, weirdly, I don't think that I took many pictures of the project all last week. But don't think that stuff's not been happening; here's where it is today:
So, now we have everything completely drywalled, mudded, sanded, primed, and painted. I had a bit of a freakout about the paint color, and Jesse actually painted it for me two different times. I've finally settled on Benjamin Moore's Chestertown Buff for both the DR and the Kitchen. It's actually the same color that we painted the DR a couple of years ago (that Adam so nicely referred to as the same color as a newborn's diaper contents), and I was trying to find something to go with it in the kitchen, but yellows can be so tricky. And so now I'm just doing the same for both--I like the color, it meets the needs of the look that I'm going for in the space, and it helps me make the two areas flow together nicely. Besides, you can always change paint.
In addition, we're planning a wainscot wall paneling for the DR. We found this website that sells these kits where you buy a bunch of the pieces (stiles, rails, shoe moulding, etc) and then just mount them on the wall and paint it all white so that the wall itself becomes part of the paneling. It's a relatively cheap way of getting that raised paneled "look." Of course, once we read through the site where they say that their paneling is composed of mdf boards routed with a reversible bit, we thought that we might as well buy the mdf board and the same router bit and do it ourselves (and by we I mean I thought that Adam could do it himself for me, of course.....I think that Adam is starting to feel like I don't count what his time is worth at all).
Adam set up a kind of router table on the floor of the garage, since the garage is currently quite packed with all our unboxed cabinets and other tools. He must have done about 6 hours solid work on his knees getting everything set up, adjusted, and then running the planks through the router. I think that the finished product is going to look really fabulous, however. Thank you, my dear.
Ok. So, today I will go to pick up the new windows (note to self: next time, order windows much, much earlier) so that Jesse (our friend doing the work) can put them in this afternoon. Jesse is also hoping that we can start installing the cabinets today as well--yipee!!

I am guilty of that same thing -- saying "we" did something that actually Dean did. But doesn't it count if I came up with the concept and offered aesthetic input? :) Anyway, it's looking great. I love your paint choice.
I'm always guilty of saying, "We need to clean the bathroom (or the kitchen, etc.)" when really I just mean Dave.
Your project is coming along nicely. It looks great. I'll keep checking back for updates.
I understand the color freak out. I have a very firm grip on color, but when we first saw our yellow walls, I nearly flipped. We let the feeling pass and remained rational and calm and once everything was in, it looked great and we still like the color.
Happy remodeling.
David
David, I nearly called you to see what yellow you used in your kitchen because I remember liking it very much! I probably should have. Thanks for the encouragement. Some days I'm not sure that there is such a thing as happy remodeling.

I am jealous that you get to do projects and play with new tools! I miss that smell of sawdust. It's been too long since I got to do any projects. (Challey says: I know! Do you think Paris will get a freakin bookshelf before she moves out for college? Dang knee.) It looks great! You are doing a great job Adam. Keep it up.
Jennette,
Love the color! It makes me want to repaint my bedroom. That yellow is so warm. I can see us sitting around your sparkling kitchen having chocolate cake. By the way, I still have our countertops are LAMINATE! Can we still be friends when you are updated?
Hooray for Chestertown Buff!! I always have people asking me what color my dining room is. And after the initial "it looks like diaper contents when wet" freak out, we have loved it ever since. Can't wait to see the finished product!!
I love the color...of course you can't always tell in a picture, but I bet it is nice. We had a very yellow kitchen in Omaha, and it was a bit of a shock at first, but I liked it a lot.
Adam, when you are done "we need"...
Spencer, once that knee is recovered, you're totally welcome to come over any time. I've got quite the project list!
Challey, I totally wish that I could fly you out for decorating help. I feel like you have quite the gift for putting a space all together. I never even noticed your laminate countertops consdering all the other really great things you have going on in your house!
J-Lo, it looks gorgeous. I wish you would come fix up my house for me.
Jennette: Just for the record it was Waverly's Home Classics "Honey Pot" from Lowe's
