myope+myope = family of myopes. So while our children may be genetically predisposed to understand higher math they will never be pilots in the air force (at least until they relax the perfect vision requirement, but by that time all the interesting flying will be done remotely anyway and the kids whose parents let them play xbox 10 hours a day will get the job). We've known for a while that Max's vision was going but put off getting him glasses just to preserve his glassless freedom for a little while more. But it finally reached a point where it was time to give in. So we took him down to the local eye doctor and got him checked. Sure enough he needed -1.0 for each eye. We debated for a second whether we should get glasses as Costco, Walmart, Pearle, strip mall eyeglass place, etc. But once you've started buying glasses online from China for $8 a pair (lenses included) it's hard to pay anything close to a retail price. As some of you may know Max busted my glasses when we were living in Berkeley and while I was searching for a cheap replacement I stumbled across Zenni optical. While many of the styles are a bit funky to say the least and it takes a while for your glasses to arrive since they literally are on a slow boat from China, the price can't be beat. So for a quarter the price of one pair of glasses we picked up four. Max is thrilled and I feel no panic about him breaking or losing his glasses. Now if only I could find a cheap Chinese importer for orthodontics. But enough talkie talkie. It's the pics you really care about.

Sweet! Max looks great. So many options!
Glad to know about that place, as we seem to be a glasses family ourselves (not my DNA, mind you). In fact, guess what. Clara failed her eye exam! A 3 year old in glasses???
1. Thanks for giving me that link.
2. How awesome that he gets FOUR pairs. No other kid, or adult, I know gets multiple pairs to match perfectly with various outfits.
3. HE'S SO BIG!!!!! What happened to the 2 year old i remember?
Aaah... it all comes together. But of course Jennette is probably running the City of Wilmington single-handedly, not to mention your ward (We all know it's the RS President who runs the ward). I'm happy to be able to come out of mourning now. I will read and love Adam's posts, but he is right, Jennette is an amazing writer! Thanks for the tip about the glasses too. We'll definitely have to check out that website the next time Naomi is due!
Max looks so grown up in his new glasses.
Adam, You are too funny - I doubt that any of us need a different color of type to realize that we should be reading in your voice instead of Jennette's (in our heads, of course) since you two have such different writing styles.
Max looks great in his new glasses. I just hope he doesn't make a practice of wearing more than one pair at once!
Max, your glasses look awesome and what a lucky boy to have FOUR pair!!
I think maybe I shouldn't offer condolences on Jennette's calling, but I will at least say that as an RS counselor I frequently tell the president I don't envy her her calling. Nor would I envy my ward members if they had me to depend on in that role. That didn't sound encouraging, though, did it? Well, I do believe the Lord helps us accomplish what he calls us to. (Is that better?)
Dean needs contacts now and just bought himself a backup pair of glasses from China. But he complains about them, so I don't know if I could go that route for our kids. I guess I'll be finding out, b/c the school nurse says we need to get Rose to an optometrist this summer. I'm a little reluctant, because I got glasses in 3rd grade, never wore them, and I have pretty good eyesight now, so I'm superstitious that wearing glasses as a kid is bad for your eyes. But I also do want her to be able to see.
(Yikes, my comments always turn out long.)
Really nice looking glasses! Cute Max as always!
I would love to have you as my RS pres. that alone would get me to be there again (I have been in hiding in other auxiliaries...)
I'm going to check out that site for myself. Rainer goes through glasses fast.
